Registered Nurse Intern Program


Internships available in:

  • Critical Care Units: Medical and Cardiovascular areas MICU, CVICU
  • Progressive Care Unit PCU
  • Emergency Department ED
  • Medical-Surgical Departments: Oncology/Medical unit and Orthopedic/Surgical unit

Eligibility

To enter the program, you must be a new graduate of an Associate Degree, Diploma, or Baccalaureate RN program, with a strong desire to work with patients.

About the Program:

  • Small classes
  • 12 week program
  • 8 weeks didactic & Grand Rounds Clinical, 4 weeks Preceptor Directed Learning

ICU and PCU Programs based on CCRN/PCCN review/prep & core curriculum classes.
ED program based on ENA Concepts, Competencies, and Critical Thinking.
MS program will be based on AMSN core curriculum

Classes will include:

Review of systems with specific information for specialty
Participate as a member of a patient care team
Legal and ethical issues Orthopedic care 
Ventilators  Cardiac diagnostics 
Hemodynamics  Oncology care 
Dysrhythmia management Surgical care
Inotropic drips Trauma management
Airway management ACLS

You will gain experience with:

  • Work one-on-one with a preceptor
  • Learn time management skills
  • Gain confidence interacting with patients and families

Requirements:

  • Official copy of most recent transcript
  • Completed Huguley Memorial Medical Center employment application
  • Two letters of recommendation from nursing instructors
  • Current BLS certification
